Why, are Marten and Faye flirting in panel 2? It's possible!
BIG HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT
So I've been talking about this for a week now, and I can finally explain what's been going on. Essentially the story is this: Early last week I was informed by my boss that I would not have my job for very much longer. I can't really talk about the details but suffice to say I'm leaving my day gig on amicable terms. My last day is next Friday, September 3rd.
What does this mean for the comic?
I want to try making QC my full-time job now. It's the most fulfilling work I've ever done, and being able to make a living off of it would be a dream come true for me. Is this possible? I don't know. It might be, and I have enough hope to give it an honest shot, at least while I look for another job. (If you know of any openings for an illustrator/web designer/computer monkey in the Northampton/Amherst/Hartford area, please let me know.)
In order to do this, though, I need your support. QC currently makes all of its money off of t-shirt sales, and I have rolled out two brand-new designs in the store this evening for your perusal. If you like what you see, please feel free to purchase them. I can assure you that you will have my eternal thanks for allowing me to continue to eat and pay my bills.
In return for your support, starting Monday, September 6th, Questionable Content will be updating five days per week, Monday through Friday.
I feel like the one thing that has been holding back the growth of the strip lately was only having time to do 3 comics per week. I am SO excited at the prospect of being able to do a comic basically every day, you have no idea. This will give me room to stretch out, to develop the plot and characters more, and to further hone my skills as a writer and an artist. I promise you, you'll enjoy what I have in store.
As for these new t-shirts, the current plan is to do a week of pre-orders for these new designs, just like the last run of shirts, in order to gauge response to the designs. So you have until Midnight on September 1st to get your hands on a Pintsize or Aerodynamically Sexy t-shirt. After these pre-orders are done, I'll probably be rolling out some old favorites and keeping the most successful designs in stock permanently. I have other plans for merchandise as well, so keep your eyes peeled. International orders will go on sale shortly, probably as early as tomorrow night- I just didn't have time to set it up this evening.
I feel like there was a lot more I planned on saying in this newspost, but frankly my brain is completely frazzled right now and I'm having a tough time forming coherent sentences. We'll leave it at this: If you enjoy my comic, please, please help support it by buying a shirt or putting a link up on your website or telling your friends about it or voting on Buzzcomix or whatever you can think of. No amount of assistance is too great or too small, and it is the knowledge that I have some of the most wonderful, dedicated, kind fans in existence that gives me hope about making my dream come true. I don't know whether I can pull it off or not, but with your help I'm certainly going to try as hard as I possibly can.
Thank you so, so much for your support in advance. This has been an incredibly stressful couple of weeks for me, and it's probably not going to let up soon, but if the payoff is being able to work on something I love for a living, then it'll be totally worth it.
