I am hard at work on some new shirt designs, rough previews of which are available in the forums for your viewing/voting pleasure. I am partial to the anti-emo shirt, myself.
A QC reader gave me a whole bunch of CDs the other day, including the newest Ted Leo, the M83 record I have been looking for for months now, a record by The Joggers (who sound like a cross between Don Caballero and Modest Mouse), and the upcoming record by Liars.
This album (They Were Wrong so We Drowned) is either genius or terrible, I am still trying to decide. It's incredibly dark, ominous, and abstract, halfway between Godspeed You! Black Emperor and 12-tone music in terms of mood. Liars are already a sort of love-them-or-hate-them band, and this record will only polarize listeners further. For something that sounded so inaccessible the first time through, I find myself coming back to it again and again, trying to figure out what exactly makes it so weirdly appealing. It comes out on February 24th, so keep your eyes peeled.
